Welcome to the Frequently Asked Questions
page.
Q: What is your mission?
A: The Waikoloa bookmobile provides a learning resource
center and an intergenerational gathering place within a
unique and highly visible facility. The bookmobile offers
appropriate materials and programs to the people within the
Waikoloa region who do not have local access to library
services. Programs encourage and stimulate love of reading,
life-long learning, and cultural enrichment. The bookmobile
serves as a transition to a permanent library
facility.
Q: How can I join Friends of the Library - Waikoloa Region
and how much does it cost?
A: There is a membership form on the Membership Page. Print
it and fill it out manually then mail it to us along with
your check. The address is in the upper right-hand corner
of the form.
Q: Are my membership dues and/or any donations tax
deductible?
A: We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization so your
contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law
and no gifts or services were provided in exchange for your
contribution.
Q: Do I need to install any software to use the Membership
Form?
A: To view the form you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader
which is free. If you do not have Reader, you can download
it from the Adobe website, click on "Get Adobe
Reader".
Q: How can I volunteer for a project or to work in the
bookmobile?
A: There are several ways to volunteer:
1. Email Cathi Keene, our volunteer coordinator at
volunteer@library.waikoloacommunity.org OR
2. Fill out the "Yes, I Want to Help" side of the
Membership Form and mail it to us.
Q: What do I get for my membership in FL-WR?
A: That's a great question and it has many answers. The
greatest reward is the gratification from supporting public
libraries and sponsoring quality services and programs.
Your contribution will also help provide books and
equipment and fund special library programs. We will be
adding more "perks" for members as we grow. Ideas include a
newsletter and a year-end dinner for members only. Email us your ideas.
Q: When are the meetings?
A: We have a general meeting on the second Friday of each
month. They are held at the Kau Kau Depot next to the
Waikoloa Post Office and start at 7:00 p.m.
Q: What fun things are coming up in the near future?
A: We will be doing a Read to Me event in September and are
planning a second Walk/Run for November. Keep checking this
website for more information and check out our Calendar of
Events page. Have an idea for something fun (and
profitable)? Please email Vivian Green.
Q: Are you ever going to get a "real" library?
A: Yes! We are using the bookmobile as a transition to a
permanent library facility, but it will take everyone
getting involved and showing their support.
